To ensure the success of participants in the ILO SIYB
Training of Trainers (ToT) program, the following requirements have been
established. These prerequisites are designed to ensure that participants have
the necessary background, skills, and commitment to fully engage in the program
and become effective SIYB trainers.
1. Educational and
Professional Background
Minimum Education A
bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, economics, education, social
sciences, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with significant
relevant experience may also be considered. Professional Experience At least
2–3 years of experience in training, facilitation, entrepreneurship
development, business consulting, or a related field. Experience working with
small and microenterprises is an advantage.
2. Knowledge and
Skills
Understanding of
Entrepreneurship Basic knowledge of entrepreneurship, business management, and
small business development.
Training and Facilitation Skills Prior experience in
delivering training or facilitating workshops is highly desirable.
Communication Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills in the language of instruction
(e.g., English, French, Spanish, or other relevant languages).
Computer Literacy
Proficiency in using basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word,
PowerPoint, Excel) for training purposes.
3. Commitment and
Motivation
Interest in
Entrepreneurship Development A genuine passion for supporting entrepreneurs and
small business owners, particularly those from underserved communities.
Willingness to Learn
A commitment to actively participate in all sessions, complete assignments, and
engage in peer learning and feedback.
Availability Full
availability to attend the entire duration of the ToT program, which may range
from 5 to 10 days, depending on the format (in person or online).
4. Language Proficiency
Participants must be
proficient in the language of instruction for the ToT program. If the training
is conducted in English, for example, participants should be able to
understand, speak, read, and write in English at a professional level.
5. Access to Resources
Technology
Requirements (for online or hybrid programs) Access to a reliable internet
connection, a computer or tablet, and a webcam for virtual sessions.
Training Materials
Participants may be required to purchase or have access to the official SIYB
training manuals and tools, depending on the program’s arrangements.
6. Pre Course
Preparation
Pre Course
Assignments Some ToT programs may require participants to complete pre course
readings, assessments, or assignments to ensure they are prepared for the
training.
Familiarity with SIYB
While not mandatory, prior exposure to the SIYB program or its methodologies
(e.g., GYB, SYB, IYB, EYB) is an advantage.
7. Post Course Commitment
Implementation of
Training Participants are expected to deliver SIYB training sessions within a
specified period after completing the ToT program, as part of their
certification process.
Reporting and
Feedback Willingness to provide feedback on the ToT program and report on the
outcomes of SIYB training sessions conducted.
8. Certification Requirements
To receive certification as an ILO SIYB Trainer,
participants must
Attend all sessions
and actively participate in the ToT program.
Successfully complete
all assignments, assessments, and practical training exercises.
Demonstrate the
ability to effectively deliver SIYB training modules during the program.

Muhammad Ahsen Mirza – Short Biography
Muhammad Ahsen Mirza is a highly experienced professional with over 20 years of expertise in academia, engineering, and entrepreneurship. He holds a BSc in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, an MS in Electronics Engineering, and an MBA in IT Management. A PEC-registered professional engineer and internationally certified master trainer, he has pioneered innovative initiatives in business incubation and stress management.
He is the Co-Founder of Flearno, a dynamic Learning Management System empowering individuals globally through lifelong learning. Currently, he heads the Business Incubator and Tech Park at IIUI, fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic growth. As the founding director of COMSATS University’s business incubator (Cubator-1ne), he has trained over 500 entrepreneurs using ILO’s SIYB package. His expertise in stress management is complemented by a strong background in strategic planning and leadership, ensuring impactful outcomes in all his endeavors.
